A Wrinkle In Time

Time has been moving at warp speed, and I look at the time and I’ve already spent three months (moving onto a fourth soon) in San Francisco. I feel like I mention this in almost every post (sorry!). This is a fairly picture heavy post.
Japantown
I can’t recall where I read it, but someone somewhere mentioned that one way to help Japan through their disaster was to purchase Japanese goods. I had made plans with Becca to check out Japantown to show her around there for her first time – it really is an unique and beautiful place in this large city.JapantownJapantownJapantown

It’s full of shops with fun and interesting things. Easily walkable, we explored around.JapantownJapantownA great shop with four floors of amazing clothes, books, and trinkets called New People

I couldn’t take photos of all the cool Harajuku style costumes, you’ll have to settle with my reflection.

I got a few folders and notebooks from my favorite, the Kinokuniya bookstore. Next time, a magazine šŸ™‚

We even indulged and took Purikura photos, a definite go back next time. I think we laughed the whole entire time trying figure out what the machine was telling us in Japanese characters. Then you get to digitally alter your photos and make them extra fancy. So if you come visit me in SF, this is where I’m taking you.

These are just two of the bunch

The next day my bf and I took a short drive in the North Bay to Muir Beach, right past Sausalito. The drive up was a beautiful mix of the Golden Gate Bridge, woods and water, and throw in some rain.

The beach was utterly stunning, the redwood creek runs right into it. So the trees almost meet the water. The only downside being the bitter wind and cold. I was a Popsicle by the time we got back to the car and my ears were on fire (why didn’t I bring a hat?!)Muir BeachMuir BeachMuir Beach

I realized that my toes have not seen the light of day in maybe five months, it’s quite strange. Now I think it’s going to rain most of March….just gonna have to make the most out of all the boots in the closet.

Omg – I was meaning to get our crazy photobooth escapades onto the blog!! I haven't emptied my mem card yet. Also – those photos of the beach are so hauntingly beautiful. There's something really special about the beach in the winter (or during non-beach days if you know what I mean).

Can't wait for our adventure tomorrow.

I like the change in your blog too! It seems more substantial and mature, but it's still very you. Does that make sense? Not that you weren't substantial and mature before… urrrrghghhh… *I feel like I'm digging a hole*

    Anyway, GOOD JOB! šŸ˜€

And I guess I'm helping japan since I just ordered a new lens… but it's out of stock at Amazon, so I guess it will be a long wait until I get it.

  • Hi Eli! Welcome to SF! (funny I was just in Vegas last weekend) Anyways, I love your photos. I've been in the city for over 20+ years so it's nice to see a new perspective from someone who just moved here. Jtown is one of my favorite part of town (I spent countless dollars on those japanese magazines back in the college days, hehe) Have fun exploring the city and hopefully we get to meet one day. (Btw, you have to try Kara's Cupcakes if you haven't already! It's the best hands down! http://www.karascupcakes.com/)

  • Eli

Thank you Jeanne for the warm welcome and tips!

thank you so much everyone for the positive feedback!

Lovely photos! I absolutely adore Japantown; I've stayed there every time I've visited San Francisco. These photos reminded me that moving back to the US won't be so bad since I'm moving to an awesome city!

  • Ashley [Free Honey]

Becca told me all about the photobooth you guys found, haha. She also said that I'm getting taken there when I come to visit. She already told me about how cool Japantown is, so it was so nice to see all your pics to go along with it!
