A springy pairing

Look familiar? Because really, I love the idea of “variation of a theme,” it’s similar to the previous outfit post but in a different print and color. I’m also enjoying that my bangs make me look like an extra from Cry Baby. I’m gonna keep working the vampy look until my bangs soon grow right over my eyes.

I also made my lipstick match my pants, Revlon Orange Flip, I love you.

And cause I’ve been wearing this jacket with just about everything, I threw it in the mix. The cotton softens what would be a hard look to a motorcycle jacket, plus it’s comfy (think upgrade from a hoodie).

Wearing- Jacket: Forever 21. Top: custom made by my mom. Belt: JCrew. Jeans: Ditto’s thrifted. Shoes: Elizabeth and James from Nordstrom Rack. Watch: vintage Bill Blass from Alameda Flea.

I’m also wearing this top that my mom made for me out of a scrap of fabric that was only enough to make one boxy thing and cost $1. The graphic branches print makes it really versatile for me to wear with lots of colors and outfits.

We have a really gloomy spring time (and sometimes summer) in the Bay Area, a goal of mine is to put away the black and neutral’s in spite of it, and start wearing more color like I used to, in my daily outfits (not just the ones I show here).

  • You pull off that orange lipstick SO WELL! I’ve been trying to find a bright color lipstick that doesn’t look ridiculous on me, but so far, no go!

    • Eli

Do what I do, go to Sephora, or even Ulta (do you have those) and try stuff on for free before you commit. I know Kat Von D makeup had a really nice orange a while back, MAC has a nice color called Morange? I got mine on ebay for a low price in case it sucked, but it totally didnt!!

      • That’s good advice! My friend picked up a really pretty orange at MAC last week, so I’ll definitely try there and Sephora.

  • sartorialsidelines

I love pairing a neutral printed top with bright bottoms – this looks awesome! And don’t even get me started on the amazing lip color…

    • Eli

I got the lipstick on ebay for a great price believe it or not!!

  • Christine D

I love this!! Edgy and springy…I’m in love with the top especially because your mom made it ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Eli

I’d love to get more orange in yellow in my wardrobe if my wallet can afford it!

  • Love your pants, cute outfit.

  • Lygia

Love! Orange is my fave color and that lipstick is fantastic!ย  You make me want to try something a little more daring than my “nude” pink ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Eli

I like to go try on the makeup at Ulta or Sephora (or even my sisters) before I commit to a new color! It took me a long time to find this orange color believe it or not. They were always too transparent or not orange enough.

  • Cammila

YES! The bangs definitely add a Cry Baby feel to your look — which is totally hot! In fact, I don’t know if I ever noticed it before, but you actually bare kind of a nice resemblance to Traci Lords. Though I mean that in a strictly non-porno way, I swear.

    • Eli

it’s totally the bangs, I’d kill to look like the lady!

  • kate ร  la mode

Hot! You’re rocking this look! Gotta agree with Cammila, you do look like Traci Lords (again, in the Crybaby-and-not-porno-way).

    • Eli

hehe thanks Kate ๐Ÿ™‚ I wish I’d done my bangs like this for the 1 month of my life I’ve been blonde

  • Asiancajuns Lar

Ooo love this outfit, Eli, and you look gorgeous with those bangs!
Ditto with the gloomy weather here in Edinburgh — I need a pair of orange denim and some lipstick to brighten up things on this side of the pond too!
So sweet that your mom customized that top — love that too!

  • Those bangs + lips = everything!
