Denim does it

Again, here I am attracted to super simple outfits with a tomboy twist. It’s my go to style this summer (who am I kidding, for this whole year so far). I also like that this outfit is very “going back to school” too 🙂

The bright color of these jeans also made me forget that they are indeed denim. When I got dressed, I really liked the idea of wearing this denim shirt with the simple jacket I’ve had forever. So much that I didn’t realize I’d be wearing this cool Texas tuxedo again.

Jacket: Gap, very old. Top: Vintage from Rose Bowl Flea Market. Pants: JBrand, from Net a Porter, partially purchased with a gift card they gave me. Shoes: Zara flats. Belt: Jcrew from Buffalo Exchange. Watch: vintage Bill Blass from Alameda Antique Faire. Necklace: Marc by Marc Jacobs heart from Fossil Outlet in Las Vegas. Diary: Moleskine 2012 journal.

This day consisted of lots of walking around and post 4th of July window shopping with my lady friend Jesica. So this outfit had to be comfy to do lots of walking and to brave the crazy wind we’ve been having. Although for once, I will not complain about our mild weather while everyone else is scorching.

I am here with my Moleskine 2012 daily planner, which has been my saving grace this year. Notebook, diary, and calendar? thank you! I am also very aware that I ended up wearing two watches! The heart necklace by now is just an accessory more than an actual timepiece. AND also aware that I’m wearing the same shoes and belt from the previous post, these Zara shoes are amazing and since the belt matches so well, I kinda have to wear them together.

Hope you all have had a great week.

I love the layered denim! And my Moleskin planner/diary is my saving grace as well, I love that thing. To quote Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec, I love jammin’ on my planner.

hehe jammin on my planner. I LOVE Moleskine’s, especially this yearly one. I’ve used a planner to keep track of everything I do since about 2003, so I can look back at what I did. I used these super artsy Taschen ones, but these Moleskine’s plus Google Calendar work much better!!

I save all my old day timers as well! I’m such an organizational nerd in that sense…

Never would have thought to do demin+denim but it really works well here due to the different colors! Creative!

I wish I had five different color combinations of this outfit! I would wear them every day if I could. Hope you’re having a wonderful week 🙂

  • Kristin Cheverie

oooh i like the moto style of that denim jacket.

    • Eli

Thanks, I’ve had it for almost 10 years! First, I’m amazed that something from the Gap would even last that long. But the lines are so simple that I’ve been wearing it over and over. I’m glad I never got rid of it.

  • Santina

I love all your denim, Eli! Love the color of those jeans, and red is such an unexpected pop of color. You know I love that watch necklace!

    • Eli

I’m gonna find another one for you one day!

  • WendyB

Your lipstick goes nicely with the flowers in the background 🙂

    • Eli

I would definitely wear a bougainvillea on my lips!

  • christine

wow a jacket during summer??? I’m so jealous.  It’s SO HOT over here in the east coast.  Never thought denim on denim would look as cool as your outfit!

    • Eli

You’re gonna hate me if I tell you that the shirt underneath is long sleeved too. It’s been so cold! When I was in Southern california the week before I was dying from how hot it was.

Once upon a time I used a paper planner.  Then I started my current job 4 years ago and within 2 weeks booked conflicting appointments (work trip + tickets to Tim & Eric’s Awesome Show in NYC) so I admitted defeat and moved to a Blackberry-only calendar.  I just enter all my personal stuff in Outlook as private and color code it…it’s annoying but effective.

Your hair is looking especially foxy in these pictures!

I use the Moleskine to keep track of what I did and as a diary. I’ve used planners since about 2002 to log what I do, I have no idea why, maybe to show my future children one day. I have a box full of planners, and use this one for that. I also now use Google Calendar in conjunction to remind me of upcoming meetings because it syncs to my iphone. If I could make an ode to google calendars I would 🙂

  • Ive had that red journal since it came out, this year I decided to switch things up a bit, but misfired on mi order and failed to see the smaller size, i dont use it as much i must say, but i have noticed the lighter load on my bag/purse – indeed.
just catchin up since being away for quite some time, and now you are in sf?! lovely. welcome, i know i may be super duper late 😉

Love this look. Denim on denim is so great. I love how each piece is a different shade of blue.
