I have done the Frida costume before – this time, I thought it would be fun to capture her as her own painting, where as most try to emulate her in the living. This set took longer to put together compared to others, just because my “partner” didn’t really want to cooperate 🙂 She’s lucky I couldn’t find a monkey!
Let’s take a moment to address Halloween and cultural appropriation – the national dress (or stereotype) of a culture is not a costume for people to manipulate for pleasure.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these costumes just as much as I did – funny enough, I had to scrap two sets that never really worked out in the end. Of which, from planning to photographing, did not turn out as I wanted (my Jon Snow costume turned out quite scary 🙁 ) So doing this project has encouraged me to push the limits of my own photography skills! Thanks for following along. We’ll be back to regular programming soon!
