This old house again

Many moons ago, I dreamed of a project in which I could wear my designs. I don’t know why, but I had imagined (and I have a very vivid image in my head from that Eureka moment) where someone (me) would wear a t-shirt tucked into their pants, and their top half showed a design from a Victorian San Francisco house. I wanted to make this happen. Then I did. Then I wore it. And I have been wearing it. Probably not as much as I should. Then I got caught up in other things and never really told anyone. Oops!

I’m currently having all the designs and materials hosted through Society 6. Because they manage the printing and design components. They turn my uploaded images into other products too, even though my overall goal was for apparel! I’ve bought this shirt and I really love it. I need to get one of the other designs ASAP because I can’t keep wearing this one on rotation. It’s really fun to have people point at your shirt and ask where it came from, and then be able to respond that I made it!

Here is a link to my Society6 store and a link here to all my Society6 shirts!

Thrift Eye

I can’t remember why I was experiencing so much resting bitch face in these photos, haha!

Bay Area Outfit

I don’t know what’s going on with me – I think I may have been living in the Bay Area too long. Or maybe I’m getting older. Or maybe I’m feeling the trends too much right now. Maybe it’s just a combination of it all! Some days, I feel like I’m still recovering from being a former Las Vegas gal and the wardrobe that comes with it…I’m not quite sure that means! Some days I’m still figuring out the balance of being comfortable, age appropriate but also fun & youthful, not too trendy, work vs. play! I think that’s why I don’t have one specific style and my look is constantly evolving.

Lately, I’ve also been attracted to adding loose linen pieces to my wardrobe. Why? I’m enjoying how the earthy and organic colors come out. Plus, I’m barely (duh to me) figuring out how comfy they are! They also tend to be made in USA. Win, win, and win! So this loose and billowy top in this mellow yellow color really spoke to me at the thrift store! Part of me is worried that I’m turning into some stereotypes…but honestly, I’ve never cared :)

On repeat

The coincidence of posting this outfit in it’s almost entire repetition, exactly a year later, is pretty hilarious. But I love that it shows I’m sticking to embracing the commitment to my wardrobe and slow fashion. The same concept as before lies true – I try to make the most of wearing my Summer dresses in the cold weather months (which happens even during the “summer” in San Francisco.) This is always remedied by layering, especially with turtlenecks!

My new little black shoes are also my FAVORITE shoes of the last few months. They just can’t seem to make an appearance here, for the outfits I take photos for, sadly. But I love them so much. I hate that I’ve had to not wear them for several weeks because I don’t want to ruin them in the rain (but I’d rather keep them as nice as possible for as long as possible!) I still love this dress SO much. I need to find another colorful way of wearing it besides paired with black. When I wear it, the colorful stripes make people stop me to say they love this dress. I just honestly love it because it has pockets!!

MoMa

So a lot of my outings lately have been to museums. Sorry (not sorry.) I’m now the proud member of three different museums in San Francisco and cannot urge you enough to do something similar near you! In the long run it becomes affordable if you visit often (like I do) and you typically always have a bonus ticket to invite a friend – and what good friends wouldn’t take you up on an offer to visit world class museums for free?!

So when I got the chance to visit the SF MOMA for the first time, I jumped at the opportunity to get a membership. Solely for the fact that it’s also too large to enjoy in one whole day. So now I get to come back as much as I want for a whole year! I feel lucky.

I’ve been trying to figure out where one can wear a bright yellow, wool, mini skirt…and if a museum isn’t perfect, I don’t know where else you’d wear the damn thing?! I still can’t believe I found it at the thrift store! It’s by Sonia Rykiel, who seems to have just passed away (RIP)
