A coral crush

I learned a long time ago to not apologize for not posting – but holy whoa, I’m so sorry for not posting. It’s as if time escaped through some vortex and now my life has been fast-forwarded a few months. How is it already March?! How is it almost April?! I’ve been super busy – I hate saying that, because EVERYONE is freaking busy! But I’ve filled my calendar up with so many things, of which running has become a huge piece of my life, and something had to give. Sadly, this blog was one of the first things to lose a piece of my time. I’ve had slumps, but this isn’t even that, I have the content – just no time to post it!!

So while the timelines of photos may not be current, it’s all still me :)

I wore this outfit on a way-too-sunny day. If you know San Francisco, then you know we don’t get too many of them. Especially not sunny AND warm days. I’ve been really feeling this beautiful and warm shade of coral. I think it brings out the green in my eyes? The auburn in my hair? I see it everywhere now. I may invest in a pair of coral pants now too, that’s how much I’m liking the color. Also, because I think it would mix well with all the grey and navy blue I have in my current wardrobe.

A Wrinkle in Time (or, a wrinkle in my dress)

You ever feel really good about an outfit? We’re not that different from each other – except once in a while I take pictures of my outfits (and hey, maybe you do too!) I felt great about this outfit all day long and then I take the pictures and see them…SO many wrinkles! I have this love/hate relationship with linen fabrics…

This dress wasn’t that badly wrinkled last time I wore it on here. I think I had been sitting on the bus back home before taking this picture. Note to self, take more pictures before going to work.

Anyhow, I’d recently been inspired by casual cool outfits of people wearing black hi-top converse over so many years. They’re just classic shoes. I own a low-top pair in grey that I wear off and on. I should have just bought the black ones a long time ago. I’ve been wearing them to work (cause I like to be comfy) and I even get little kids who tell me “COOL SHOES!”

A new palette

A few months back while on a thrifting expedition, I came across an interesting selection of items in colors I haven’t been really considering – actual earthy tones. Once I had the things together in the fitting room, I could see they worked cohesively in an interesting palette. The outfit is bright and cheerful, even though the tones are earthy (and not neon bright) that worked well with my hair right how it is here! (it’s now a different shade)

Since I’ve been trying to find more pieces that will easily shift from the workday to the weekend, these will perfectly join the team (in the closet :) )

the Hemp dress

Since returning from Japan, I have actually had a different eye when thrifting – my attention immediately went to looking for natural fabrics that breathe, can be worn oversized, and drape rather than hugging curves. A very different aesthetic than what we’re used to seeing in the West and what I normally would wear.

And with that idea in mind, I then hit the thrifting jackpot recently- it must have been the same woman cleaning out her closet (which I always assume when I find similar taste items within the same visit). I was able to find some very beautiful linen type pieces to fit into my wardrobe seamlessly (ie they’ll be able to mix and match what I already wear in my closet). Plus, these new pieces fit into the San Francisco wardrobe – which forces you to wear layers that you can add or remove on call as the weather changes so frequently throughout the day and through neighborhoods! I leave my house in the morning freezing, and get to work in another neighborhood that has me sweating! PS. Excuse the wrinkles, they’re impossible to get out after sitting.
