Spotlight On: Black Halo

You’ll be able to follow all of these spotlight posts here, but also keep up with my Made in the USA series here.

I learned about the brand Black Halo a while back when I was researching my list of brands for my Made in USA page. Back then I had never heard of them, but now, I see Black Halo everywhere! I would consider it one of those go-to classy brands for formal wear. They should be official ambassadors for guests looking for a wedding outfit! I have my own Black Halo dress that’s my go-to for weddings. It has a sexy silhouette in a bright color, which seems to be their signature look! Oddly, they don’t seem to highlight that they’re making their clothing in the US!

Luckily, Shopbop is having another tiered sale – they are my go-to online store for Made in the USA clothing! Don’t miss out!

Spotlight On: Velvet

Happy Friday! I love highlighting brands for the Spotlight, especially when they’re brands I support through my own wardrobe. I have been lucky enough to replace old crappy tees with some awesomely soft and durable Velvet ones! They’re one of those brands I love to support! Their about page states

It began in 1997 as an aspiration to create fashion forward tee shirts that embodied the laid-back luxe of LA style. Today it has evolved into full collections recognized for their meticulously crafted, clean elevated staples. Helmed by Creative Directors Jenny Graham & Toni Spencer, the collections are created using only the finest fabrics and are manufactured primarily in the United States.

So I noted, as the quote does, they seem to be making more items overseas. Mainly synthetic knits in China and woven pieces in India, where those items are primarily made now (where cotton items typically USA made, hence why you see more cotton basics and denim made here.) I guess it’s a bummer, but just the way it is. This is why I always reiterate to check your tags before purchase, because the brands you know as hardcore Made in USA just don’t seem to be sticking to that 100% anymore.

P.S. You may also know Velvet by their other name, Graham & Spencer! Here are some images from their resort collection!

Hoping I can get this brand on your radar if it wasn’t already!

Spolight on: Rachel Pally

You’ll be able to follow all of these spotlight posts here, but also keep up with my Made in the USA series here.

While looking up information for my previous post, about one of my swim separates, I realized Rachel Pally, her style and brand are exactly the kinds of labels I need to feature more on here! What’s really awesome, and unique too, is that if you browse the site, you will see dedicated collections for maternity, plus size, bridal on top of the regular collections. That is an amazing feat!! As her website states ‘to follow women through all stages of their lives.’

RACHEL PALLY’S STYLE HAS BEEN DISTINGUISHED BY HER ABILITY TO BLEND THE “EASY AND ELEGANT” WITH THE “CHIC AND CLASSIC.” FROM THE INFAMOUS CROPPED GAUCHO TO THE COVETED CAFTAN DRESS, RACHEL PALLY’S DESIGNS HAVE LEFT AN INDELIBLE MARK ON THE WORLD OF WOMEN’S WEAR. HER ABILITY TO FUSE SIMPLICITY WITH GLAMOUR HAS CONSISTENTLY RESULTED IN A COLLECTION THAT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL ON EVERYONE.

Here are some of the beautiful images of this awesome Made in LOS ANGELES brand!

Is this a brand that has been on your radar or do you have a piece in your wardrobe?

Spotlight on: Clare V.

You’ll be able to follow all of these spotlight posts here, but also keep up with my Made in the USA series here.

I’ve focused quite a bit on clothing in these Spotlight Made in the USA posts, because frankly as I’ve shared, venturing out of that box is difficult. Heck, it’s difficult in the box! With brands often beginning USA made then moving overseas, or doing one part USA made and another ambiguous part overseas. When you get into other merchandise, it often becomes increasingly difficult, but not impossible! (I’m still looking for awesome made in USA shoe brands to share, if you know of one).

I have been following Clare Vivier on Instagram for some time and recently realized that her amazing line of clutches/bags/carry-alls are made in the USA too!

The brand about page states

While her bags are available at retailers worldwide, Vivier firmly roots herself in the Los Angeles design community, where her line has been made exclusively since 2008.

And after watching a long interview about her on Youtube, I learned she began making all the bags herself! So I’m happy for her and that her vision fruitioned! The Fall 2015 lookbook pictures have me lusting for one of her bags now!

I knew quite a few ladies that were rocking the Clare V. clutches – I personally rather get something that can be slinged over my shoulder, so I’ll be saving up for a beautiful tote one day!
