Halloween costume ideas: Mia Wallace

To make a very long and strange story short – when I was a kid, a family member took me to see Pulp Fiction because the last John Travolta movie they had seen was Grease and the previews misled them to believe it was about dancing. It definitely was NOT about dancing and we left half way through, and I have this hilarious story about it. Many of the themes went completely over my head in the fifth grade, but I was always stricken by the beautiful Uma Thurman as Mia Wallace.

Top: basic white button up, get nice one from JCrew here!

Mia Wallace is definitely one of those before or after costumes! Which one would you prefer?

Halloween costume ideas: Kiki’s Delivery Service

Hopefully there are some Hayao Miyazaki fans out there, I for one adore the Studio Ghibli movies! So when I realized I could pull off being little Kiki from Kiki’s Delivery Service, I knew it was perfect! Down to her little cat Jiji (although my black cat isn’t so little anymore).

Kiki wears a dark dress most of the time and a big red bow! She offers a witchy delivery service via broom, and always has her messenger bag in tow. This was a free costume for me – she also has the most adorable cartoony rosy cheeks!

See what I said about going for character costumes?!

Halloween costume ideas: Margot Tenenbaum

Margot Tenenbaum is a special costume for me, I tried it a few years ago (but always felt like I’d failed at it). The colors and props had always been sort of off. So I knew this was my chance to explore a better Margot!

From her fake finger, the cigarette (although we had to make a fake one cause we don’t have any around the house, ha), I felt like I’d outdone myself 🙂 Too bad I got rid of that fur coat years ago! Now, if I only could have found a Le Tigre top, instead of the Polo one, I would have been set.

Top: Ralph Lauren thrifted. Eyeliner: Urban Decay glide on pencil. Lip color: Bare Minerals lip gloss in Hot Shot.

I pulled out a little magic to get these photos 😉 When (and if) you do Halloween, do you tend to pick specific characters or themes? I think I naturally gravitate towards characters, as you’ll see tomorrow!
